Federal investigators believe that a man accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail through the window of a Buddhist temple in New Caney was paid $11,000 to commit the crime, an FBI agent testified Wednesday.
Austin Tanton, 28, of Cleveland, was arrested last week and charged with conspiracy to commit malicious use of explosive materials, using explosive materials in the commission of a felony and possession of an unregistered destructive device. All the charges are related to a Nov. 5, 2023, fire at Huyen Trang Buddhist Meditation Center in New Caney.
