HOUSTON — Sunday dinner can be a tradition uprooted when a family is battling cancer. Pediatric cancer kills more children than any other disease. To ease families’ worries, one woman’s non-profit is giving free meals donated from Houston restaurants.
Brittany Hebert Franklin, founder of Sky High for Kids, recently delivered 170 hot meals as part of their Sunday Supper program to families at Texas Children’s Hospital. The initiative addresses a critical need during Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, as cancer kills more children than any other disease.
“If you can imagine the hospital food is going to get a little boring and a little old and in addition to that, parents have to buy their own food and so food insecurity is a real problem,” Franklin explained…
