This Houston neighborhood was called the ‘District of Dirt,’ then residents demanded change

HOUSTON — Thursday marked the three-week deadline South Union residents set for Houston District D Council Member Carolyn Evans-Shabazz after she previously told them, “so just give me a chance to get it done.”

At the time, resident Tamara Alexander responded, “We’re going to hold you to three weeks.”
