Rainy weekend ahead for Houston as two cold fronts move through

HOUSTON (CW39) — Grab the rain gear, Houston. The National Weather Service (NWS) said two cold fronts will bring waves of showers, storms, and pockets of heavy rain from Friday through Monday.

Friday–Saturday

A weak cold front is moving slowly across Southeast Texas today and will keep rain chances going through Saturday. Most areas will see on-and-off showers, but the Brazos Valley and the Piney Woods region could see heavier downpours. NWS Forecasters said an isolated risk of excessive rainfall can’t be ruled out.

Sunday–Monday

A second cold front arrives Monday and is expected to bring more widespread rain and storms. Heavy rainfall will again be possible ahead of the front.

On Sunday, the Brazos Valley and Piney Woods are under a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for excessive rainfall. By Monday, the Piney Woods area increases to a Slight Risk (level 2 of 4), with the rest of Southeast Texas remaining under a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4).

Creeks, bayous, and low-lying areas could respond quickly to any heavy downpours, so keep an eye on conditions if you have weekend travel or outdoor plans…
