MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas A suspect is in custody following a Tuesday evening officer-involved shooting near Carl Barton Park in Conroe.

What we know:

Law enforcement responded to the area of Carl Barton Park in the 2800 block of South Loop 336 East on Tuesday evening. They say the shooting involved a Montgomery County Pct. 2 constables deputy.

The incident began when the deputy conducted a traffic stop on the suspect, later identified as John Laredo, 34. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, who provided an update around 7 p.m., Laredo immediately got out of his vehicle and was belligerent.
