A Conroe ISD trustee and self-described “Mama Bear” Christian conservative member of the school board is resigning her post.
District officials announced Tuesday night that Tiffany Baumann Nelson was resigning from the board, citing her campaign for the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE). Nelson launched her bid to serve on the board representing District 6 in mid-September. According to official records, Nelson filed to run in late November.
Texas law requires that candidates for SBOE must not currently hold public office.
