Body found in Buffalo Bayou marks Houston’s first recovery of 2026

Authorities in Houston are piecing together how a man’s body ended up in Buffalo Bayou Tuesday afternoon, making it the first case of 2026.

It is the fourth body recovered from the Houston waterways in the past 15 days.

The Houston Fire Department confirmed it received a call about a body in the bayou around 1:45 p.m. near Commerce Street and Fannin. Clean-up crews were doing maintenance in the park area, according to Lt. Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department, and found what appeared to be a man’s body.
