Praise mounts for Conroe horror film; filmmaker calls Deadpool’s Randal Reeder a ‘catalyst’

After Conroe’s Patrick McNerney worked on projects with Randal Reeder of “Deadpool” fame, the brawny Texas actor knew McNerney had what it took to make his own film.

“He was really a catalyst. He was blown away at the stuff we were making for basically no money,” McNerney, a 2005 Conroe High graduate, said. “I told him I had always wanted to make my own film and he was like ‘You should do it!'”

McNerney took that as a challenge and teamed up with his friend Daniel Jones for the short film “The Sanguine” which is now making the film festival circuit. Reeder was to star in the short film but was called away by another television project…
