Parents sue Spring ISD teachers for using sleeping patches on students without consent

The parents of six children at Spring ISD’s Northgate Crossing Elementary School are suing teachers two years after the educators allegedly used melatonin sleep patches on their children without parental consent.

In September 2024, a parent said that her daughter came home from pre-K with a sticker that her teacher allegedly gave her “to go to sleep,” according to the lawsuit. After the parent reported the incident to the school, the district put two of its teachers and two aides on leave and began an internal investigation. Five parents with pre-K students filed a lawsuit last fall against three kindergarten teachers, alleging civil assault.

The parents, represented by the Buzbee Law Firm, said the sleeping-aid stickers have caused more than $2 million in damages. Those include physical and mental pain, physical impairment, loss of enjoyment of life and peace of mind, plus expenses for necessary medical, counseling, psychiatric and therapeutic appointments…
