HOUSTON — There’s a traffic nightmare on the east side of town, all because of a massive sinkhole that opened up on I-10. All outbound lanes of the East Freeway are shut down just outside the 610 Loop and one inbound lane is closed.
TxDOT originally said that the lanes would remain closed until at least Monday. They later provided an update that lanes would be closed overnight and into Thursday. After that, it’s not clear when the lanes will open up.
“We don’t have a timeline to bring the roadway back online,” said Bambi Hall with TxDOT. “It will take a little more time. I’m not sure what the entirety of the city’s process may be. My understanding is whatever they have to do could take up to eight hours. And so that’ll put us into the middle of the night.”…
