HOUSTON, Texas — Two Conroe residents have been charged in connection with the kidnapping and forced labor of a minor, announced U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.
Tania Evette Garcia, 37, is scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Dena Hanovice Palermo, while Brenda Mariana Garcia, 39, has already appeared and remains in custody pending further proceedings. A federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment on Jan. 14, alleging that between March and September 2025, the sisters kidnapped and abused the minor victim, according to the indictment.
The indictment details that the sisters physically abused and restrained the victim using zip ties, repeatedly beating and forcing the child to provide labor and services through force, threats, and physical abuse. If convicted, each faces up to life in federal prison and a possible $250,000 fine…
