Kingwood Park, Kingwood students unite for peaceful protest

As cars honked, students celebrated. Every honk was reassurance to the high schoolers that they weren’t alone.

The peaceful protest opposing Immigration and Customs Enforcement drew close to 200 Kingwood community members at the busy intersection of West Lake Houston Parkway and Kingwood Drive on Feb. 6. Kingwood and Kingwood Park students organized and led the gathering.

Students stood shoulder to shoulder with friends they’ve known for decades and people they had just met. Some had noise machines, many had signs, and all used their voices.

“I think it’s so important that kids are coming to Kingwood and protest because this is such a conservative area,” Kingwood Park junior Darcy Gordon said. “Everyone here thinks everyone believes in Trump, but we show that we have different opinions and there can be change.”…
