HOUSTON — Charges have been filed against a man who investigators say caused an overnight crash in northwest Houston that killed a grandmother.
Manuel Mendoza is charged with murder. Police say he ran a red light after coming off the Beltway feeder road at Clay Road early Tuesday morning. He hit the woman’s sedan, who had her grandson in the back seat. The toddler, who was in a car seat, was OK.
Police said Mendoza tried to run from the scene after the crash. Patrol officers found him roughly 100 yards away from his pickup, which was disabled after the wreck. He was taken into custody…
