Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland are continuing their legacy of giving back to their hometown of Houston. The Knowles-Rowland House, an $8.4 million permanent supportive housing project backed by the Destiny’s Child stars, is nearing completion and is expected to open in early 2026.
The 31-unit complex will provide housing and supportive services for people experiencing homelessness. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, chronic homelessness is defined as being continuously homeless for at least one year or experiencing at least four episodes of homelessness over the past three years totaling twelve months.
The development is an adaptive reuse of the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth, a community facility originally built in 1999 using funds generated from Destiny’s Child’s first single. Named after Knowles and Rowland, who were longtime members of the church behind the facility, which once served as a gymnasium and youth space. However, the building suffered significant damage from Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and, later, a fire in 2021, leaving it unused for the past few years…
