A deadly wrong-way crash on Highway 6 North near Clay Road in northwest Houston left one woman dead and sent two other drivers to local hospitals on Sunday, according to deputies.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and shut down the northbound lanes while investigators worked. Officials said the driver’s identity has not been released, with authorities waiting to notify family members.
According to KHOU, deputies say a Chevrolet Trax was traveling north in the southbound lanes when it slammed head-on into a Dodge Charger. The wrong-way driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other drivers were taken to hospitals with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, the outlet reported. Debris from the crash also struck a second Chevrolet Trax.
