Klein Collins High School student expelled after firearm discharged in campus restroom, officials say

SPRING, Texas (CW39) — A student has been expelled and is facing felony charges after accidentally discharging a firearm inside a restroom at Klein Collins High School, according to the school principal.

In a letter sent to families, Principal Kristen Brady said the incident happened in an empty restroom Monday afternoon. She said administrators responded immediately, adding that no students or staff were injured.

The principal also said campus administrators and officers with Klein ISD Police Department, who are regularly stationed in hallways, quickly caught the student and safely secured the gun. Because of their quick action, the campus was not placed on lockdown.

The student cooperated with school authorities when approached, according to the principal. The incident remains under investigation by law enforcement, but the student has already been expelled from Klein ISD, and felony charges have been accepted by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office…
