Man linked to Texas Killing Fields murders dies while on parole

One of the men believed to be connected to the 1980s “Texas Killing Fields” murders has died while on parole, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Clyde Hedrick died Saturday at a Houston hospital. He was 72. The cause of death was not immediately released.

In 2014, Hedrick was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the 1984 death of Ellen Rae Simpson Beason. He had been released on parole in 2021 under Texas’ Super Intensive Supervision program after serving eight years of a 20-year sentence…
