SPRINGFIELD, MO – As major progress continues on the I-44 improvements project in Springfield, MoDOT is preparing for the next phase of construction.
Earlier this week, MoDOT announced that Capital Paving & Construction had been awarded a contract for a $471-million set of projects in southwest Missouri, including several in the Springfield metro.
Currently, the interstate is undergoing a massive rebuilding project across north Springfield between MO 13 (Kansas Expressway) and U.S. 65. The improvements include widening the freeway from four lanes to six (three in each direction), interchange improvements, sound walls, and new bridges carrying the interstate over National Ave., Grant Ave., and Broadway Ave. The bulk of the work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026, with some additional construction extending into the spring of 2027…
