Kirkwood Park submerged in Springfield after heavy rainfall

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The park near Seminole Street and Glendale Avenue in south Springfield is flooded after heavy rain hit the Springfield area Monday morning.

Video taken by Ozarks First shows water over the road along Glendale Avenue, and several inches of standing water across the park. You can see that video above, or see our social media video taken at the scene below.

A city employee was out surveying the damage Monday. Ozarks First heard from Jenny Edwards with the Springfield Greene-County Parkboard warns people to avoid the high water, and it could be the case near several park board parks.

“Please stay out of flooded areas and especially streams where water may be deeper and faster than it looks. Keep an eye on kids, keep them out of flooded areas,” Edwards says…
