Four rescued from James River near Shelvin Rock Access

Four people were rescued from the upper James River Monday evening after they were found clinging to debris about a half-mile south of the Shelvin Rock Access.

According to the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, two males and two females were stranded in the water when deputies were dispatched to the scene. Initial reports indicated four people were stranded and one person was missing.

The sheriff’s office launched a jet boat and successfully rescued all four individuals. Authorities reported none of the victims suffered serious injuries…
