SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Following the deaths of Sofie and Andrea Stawny, with their mother Taylor still missing, at Lake Springfield last week, City Utilities says they are looking at potential safety improvements for the dam.
There has been a push from the community to implement new improvements there, with a petition circulating online advocating for it.
The desire for change also includes the Stawny family. The father, Gilbert Stawny, told Ozarks First that he would like to see more warning signage, barriers or a net blocking to prevent going over the dam, and locking the gate to the park during high flooding situations…
