SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — This upcoming Fourth of July is the 250th anniversary of Independence Day, and a local retailer is expecting a bigger turnout for the celebration.
Adam Towe has been selling fireworks on and off since he was 18. With this year being an especially special celebration, Adam has been hearing a lot of talk about fireworks shopping, saying, “It’s the 205th anniversary. They’re coming in and saying, okay, we’re going to do a big this year.”
Fireworks have increased in price this year, though, according to Adam, who said, “Well, the prices did go up a little bit. On average, we did about 5%. And, you know, unfortunately, costs have gone up. So we tried to pass as little on to that as the consumer as we could.”…
