Today is our final day of scattered rain and storms. We shut off the spigot on Saturday and turn hot, humid, and sunny this weekend and for most of next week.
Scattered heavy rain today may lead to some local flooding. Rain is most likely this morning before becoming more hit-or-miss through the afternoon. Some storms later today could become strong to severe with winds up to 60 mph possible. Scattered rain will linger this evening before largely clearing tonight.
There is a chance for stray rain showers Saturday morning, but they’ll be spotty and tend to move east through the morning. The afternoon will mainly be dry and warm with temperatures in the upper 80s.
Sunday marks the beginning of our first taste of summer! A ridge of high pressure will strengthen over the Midwest Sunday through Wednesday. This will shove temperatures into the low 90s and bring plenty of sunshine next week.
The daily heat index will top 100° in most areas next week. This is the kind of summer weather people have been waiting for to have a pool day or a day at the lake. This will also be a time to stay hydrated and to apply the sunscreen.
