SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A local restaurant is serving as a collection point for supplies headed to Venezuela following a devastating earthquake.
Boxes stacked outside Caracas House on West Battlefield Road are labeled with handwritten tags — children’s clothes, medicine and food — as community members drop off donations during normal business hours.
Owner organizes drive from afar
Owner Luis Sulbaran grew up in La Guaira, a coastal community that was among the hardest hit by the earthquake. He said the distance made him feel powerless at first.
“It’s like you feel that you cannot do anything,” Sulbaran said. “And then we find this out, like, okay, we can, you know, we can call the community and say, hey, we’re gonna do this, we’re going to collect these supplies. And we say, well, at least we can do something.”
