SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – You may have shown up to your pharmacy lately only to find the doors closed or the counter short-staffed. It may look like there aren’t enough pharmacists to go around. But industry leaders say many stores are losing money because pharmacy benefit managers aren’t reimbursing them at rates they promised.
“We know of several stores that have been closed 2 or 3 days in a row, so we get a lot of transfers just for that,” said Colby Grove.
Grove says his stores in Springfield, Pleasant Hope and Ash Grove have seen business increase due to a pharmacist shortage. But, he says, gaining more customers isn’t necessarily a good thing…
