SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Just after the 250th anniversary of Independence Day, Honor Flight of the Ozarks flew out 81 veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the city’s famous memorials on Tuesday, July 7.
Many visitors welcomed the veterans upon their return at the Springfield-Branson National Airport. Live bands played music as the veterans passed through the tunnel of visitors holding signs and cheering for them.
Jim Gallion, a veteran visiting the event, talked about the importance of giving these servicemen a welcome home, saying, “Especially the Vietnam Veterans, because they didn’t get what they deserved when they came home.”…
