After a brief break, showers have returned. There weren’t many of them today, but it’s a sign of where we’re going. We’re tracking a pocket of unsettled weather coming out of Mississippi that will continue west across Arkansas tonight into Wednesday.
For tonight, isolated showers will remain possible near and south of I-44 through this evening. Showers should fade away with skies becoming mostly clear by morning.
Bright sunshine will warm temperatures quickly Wednesday morning, with skies filling with clouds by afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will take the stage by the afternoon hours, especially near and south of I-44. Lightning and heavy rain will be possible, but no severe weather is expected. The rainfall could be locally heavy, with a few spots seeing more than an inch of rain.
Wednesday’s round of showers will fade Wednesday night, only to return by Thursday afternoon as the pocket of unsettled weather slowly pivots northeast across Missouri. Once again, lightning and heavy rainfall will be possible, but no severe weather is expected.
The shower maker will move out of the area Friday, with hotter and drier weather moving in. Hot air blowing in will make for a steamy weekend with highs in the low 90s Saturday and low to mid 90s Sunday. Most areas will remain dry Friday through Sunday.
A cold front will drop in from the north by Monday night, triggering a few showers and thunderstorms. Ahead of the front, Monday is shaping up to be the hottest day of the summer so far. The cold front will trim back the heat and humidity some by Tuesday…
