Residents across the Lakes Region will need to continue taking precautions against dangerous heat after the National Weather Service in Springfield extended a Heat Advisory through 8 p.m. Saturday.
Forecasters say a prolonged stretch of hot and humid weather will keep afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 90s across the region, with heat index values expected to climb between 100 and 106 degrees during the hottest parts of the day.
The advisory covers much of southwest and south-central Missouri. While northwest Arkansas is not included in the advisory, temperatures in the region are also expected to be in the mid to upper 90s with high heat index readings…
