SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Over the weekend, Springfield police reported responding to a call in which a man was seen pointing a firearm toward a victim while riding in a vehicle downtown.
According to online court dockets, Austin Cover, born in 2005, of Springfield, has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.
Officers state in a probable cause statement that they responded to an assault call near the intersection of S. Kimbrough Avenue and E. Trafficway on Sunday, Sept. 6, where a man, later identified as Cover, was seen pointing the weapon while inside a gray Toyota Prius.
The victim told officials that they and a witness were at the intersection in a different vehicle when the Toyota Prius pulled up with Cover making eye contact with them. During the interaction, the victim claimed that “weird faces were exchanged” and that Cover pointed a pistol at them before the vehicle left the area…
