Some Ozarks business owners raise concerns over 32-hour workweek bill

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A bill introduced in Congress would reduce the standard workweek from 40 hours to 32 hours while keeping employee pay and benefits the same. Some small business owners in the Ozarks say the change would affect their operations.

Business owners weigh the impact

Trish Pearson and her husband have owned My Movers Moving and Storage since 2007. The company has around six hourly employees. Pearson said the legislation would affect the business.

“I think it would have a big impact on us because basically we’re paying everybody for an extra day when they’re not working,” Pearson said.
