SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -Donation bins intended to help local families in need are increasingly being treated as dumping grounds, creating piles of ruined items across southwest Missouri parking lots.
Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Leslie Birdwell says her non-profit organization tends to the donation bins daily. And while it is not often that it happens to their bins, there are occasions during spring time where they will see more improper dumping.
“Primarily during yard sale season, in the spring, what doesn’t sell at the yard sale tends to get left at the bins,” Birdwell said. “I think it hurts donation in general. It’s a little frustrating at times, but I understand some people just don’t know.”…
