SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Phelps Grove Park is getting a new custom-made sculpture near the park’s flower garden, according to the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
For the project, sculptor Louis Medlock will carve a series of animals and plants into a 13-foot cherry tree trunk from a tree that died in 2025. The Park Board says the sculpture is expected to be completed within the month, weather permitting.
The animals featured on the sculpture are a red-tailed hawk, owls, squirrels and a fox, animals that can be seen at Phelps Grove Park. The sculpture will also feature sunflowers and other plants growing in the flower garden…
