SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield city leaders revealed plans to slow down drivers and improve safety on East Bennett Street with new crosswalks and narrower lanes.
Planning for this project started back in 2024. On Monday night, the City of Springfield hosted a public meeting to share and discuss its preliminary plans for a portion of the street.
“We have heard complaints of speeding up and down the roadway. People aren’t super fans of that,” said Project Manager Lexi Hunsucker. “We are narrowing the roadway with intent to slow drivers down. We do have pretty high speeds on this roadway, and so our intent is to have them slow down, be safer, be more aware as they travel along Bennett to be aware of other people on the roadway.”…
