Three teens to remain in Juvenile Detention after Hickory Hills assault

GREENE COUNTY, Mo. – Three teens charged after an assault on another student at Hickory Hills School will remain in Juvenile Detention.

Two teens are being held in Greene County while the third student remains with authorities in Christian County.

Juvenile Division in Christian County says per law, jurisdiction is determined by three factors; 1. Where the incident occurred, 2. The minor’s residence, and 3. If the minor is already in the custody of another county.

Derick Moore, the parent of the middle schooler attacked last week, says his family is thankful for the rulings.

“Based on what we’ve learned over the last week or so, this isn’t the first time that assault happened in a very brutal manner by the defendant(s),” Moore said. “We felt that it was best that [they] should remain in custody at this time.”

Moore says his daughter Preslee is recovering from a traumatic incident.

“For our daughter, it’s been absolutely horrible. She is still recovering and has to see a plastic surgeon in the morning. She could potentially have permanent damage in her eye,” Moore said. “On top of that, she just she’s scared. She has no idea why this happened. Outside of the physical damage this has caused to her, the emotional toll it’s taken on her this week and moving forward is just unfathomable.”
