Drivers in the Ozarks noticing more potholes after winter storms

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – It’s that time of year when the roads start crumbling due to cold weather. After the winter storms, many drivers are noticing more potholes. More and more potholes are popping up. And the winter weather plays a big part in why we see more potholes on streets and highways. Potholes form because of the warmer temperatures during the day, but the nights continue to be cold, causing the expansion and contractions within the seams of the concrete. Add the rain and snow, and that water seeps into those cracks and joints.
