Arkansas woman charged after running from Nixa police

NIXA, Mo. — An Arkansas woman has been formally charged after an alleged fraud attempt and chase with Nixa Police officers.

According to online court documents, Jessica Dawn Cherry has been charged with a felony count of resisting arrest and creating a risk of injury or death.

A probable cause statement from the Nixa Police Department (NPD) says officers were called to the Blu Current Credit Union in Nixa, where Cherry was using stolen identification and attempting to cash a stolen check for $3,695.

Officers were told that Cherry had a probation violation warrant from Arkansas.

Cherry fled the scene as officers tried to stop her and speak with her, driving a gray van forward and nearly hitting one of the officers before taking off.

The probable cause statement says Cherry drove over 104 miles per hour in blind curves, crossed double yellow lines and reached speeds as high as 110 miles per hour.

Cherry was a suspect in several identity thefts and frauds at other Blu Current branches and had the IDs of several other people.
