Springfield man going to prison for 15 years for illegal firearm

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A man from Springfield, Missouri, was sentenced in federal court to 15 years for illegally possessing a firearm.

45-year-old Antowan Wade was given 15 years in federal prison without parole by a U.S. District Judge.

Wade pleaded guilty to possessing an illegal firearm as a felon on Aug. 3, 2023. The U.S. Probation Office found a semi-automatic pistol in Wade’s apartment on May 9, 2022, while he was on supervised release due to a prior bank robbery sentence. Convicted felons are not allowed to possess any firearm or ammunition under federal law.

Wade has two other felony convictions for bank robbery, one for a robbery at a Joplin Best Buy store and another for making and passing counterfeit money as well as burglary.
