Man guilty of accidental shooting sentenced to four years in prison

GREENE COUNTY, Mo. — The man charged in the shooting of Laterrian Jarman near Rogersville has been sentenced to four years in prison.

On Jan. 31, 2024, a Greene County judge sentenced 21-year-old Blake Beckelman to four years in the Department of Corrections (DOC) after the court denied Beckelman’s probation, which the defense requested.

The State of Missouri asked for Beckelman to serve seven years in prison.

Man pleads guilty to manslaughter after accidental shooting

Beckelman pleaded guilty to accidentally shooting Jarman last year, saying that he pointed a pistol at Jarman as a joke and pulled the trigger thinking there was no ammo in the gun. He was officially charged with 1st-degree involuntary manslaughter.
