Old Affordable Towing lots expected to be cleaned up

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Since Affordable Towing went out of business last year, their properties have been a nuisance for neighboring homes and businesses, with police being called out to the lots dozens of times.

OzarksFirst has learned about big changes coming to the properties.

The Junk Pirates have been hired to clean out the lots.

“We’re just going to start by cleaning up and picking up the mess,” said Junk Pirates owner Paul Garrison.

Since June, there have been 37 911 calls to the Division Street location for things like fires, disturbances, trespassing, burglaries and stealing.

The property on E. Florida Street was the subject of 20 911 calls in just the month of January.

“There are trespassers, the homeless,” Garrison said. “And then they’re just thieves.”

Joe Childers manages a tire shop next to the old Affordable Towing property on Division Street.

“What we’ve got now is just a bunch of hoodlums, you know, running around trying to get what they shouldn’t,” Childers said.
