AURORA, Mo. – The Aurora-Marionville Police Department is warning residents about a scam involving scammers posing as police officers.
In a Facebook post, the police department said that the scammers are calling locals and telling them that there are warrants out for their arrest and that to avoid arrest, they must pay over the phone.
The police department clarified that they do not collect money from warrants. Instead, they wrote, the court does when a bond is posted. Additionally, the police department said that they would never call asking for money.
They advised residents to never send money over the phone based on only a phone call.
Anyone who belives themselves to be a victim of this scam should contact the police department directly.
