Saturday, February 2: Holding on to heat before rain arrives

We’ve been blessed with plenty of warm weather this week. We managed to hit 60 degrees in Springfield 4 out of the last 5 days. Today a handful of places have chances to keep that streak going. Temperatures will stay warm in the upper 50s and low 60s before rain chances return in the afternoon.

A narrow band of showers will be approaching from the Southwest and slowly traverse across the Ozarks. We’ll start the morning hours dry before most places become soaked to end the day.

The heaviest rainfall will be across far southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas where over 1.00″ of rain is possible. Areas near Highway 65 may see 0.25″ to 0.50″ with very limited accumulation in central Missouri.

The warm temperatures will also be disappearing on Sunday. Highs are only in the upper 40s with rainfall that won’t wrap up until the late afternoon.

The good news is this less-than-ideal weather will only be a speed bump on our path of incredible winter weather. On Monday we will get both sunnier and warm with temps in the 50s.
