Springfield breweries team up with local nonprofit supporting transportation needs

Hannah Wingo knows firsthand how life-changing a gift can be. Her son Gage was 5 years old when they were able to purchase a van in 2020 that accommodates his wheelchair.

“The van changed our lives in a practical, logistical way, but also because we accepted help and got what we needed,” Wingo said. “That was really hard from a personal place, to say yes to somebody who wanted to do a nice thing because they love Gage and want us to have it.”

The difference it made in their lives inspired Wingo and her husband to start enGAGE Mobility, a non-profit that helps Missouri families purchase or convert vehicles that provide reliable transportation for their children, up to 21 years old, who use wheelchairs. In February, people can support that cause and local breweries at the same time with FeBREWary, a monthlong event. For $15, participants will get one free draft beer from Mother’s Brewing Company at 215 S. Grant Ave., either 4 by 4 Brewing location (2811 E. Galloway St. or 9003 Sawgrass Ave. in Nixa) and Hold Fast Brewing at 235 N. Kimbrough Ave.
