GREENE COUNTY, Mo. — The Greene County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) has identified and arrested the man evading law enforcement in a stolen vehicle on Friday, Feb. 2.
According to court documents, Christian Bentz was charged with stealing a motor vehicle, resisting arrest by fleeing, unlawful use of a weapon and driving while revoked/suspended. He also had a failure to appear warrant from a separate traffic case and a revoked license.
Police chase down stolen vehicle into Strafford; two arrested
The probable cause statement said the GCSO was made aware of a red 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe stolen from a Galena, Missouri resident on Jan. 14, 2024. On Feb. 2, they found Bentz driving a red Chevrolet Tahoe in Springfield near Main Avenue and Madison Street.
Greene County detectives responded to the report and saw the Chevrolet Tahoe leave the area. A deputy followed the car eastbound on Grand Street and tried to conduct a traffic stop on Grand Street and John Q. Hammons Parkway. The driver did not comply and fled eastbound down Grand while the deputy pursued the car.
