Truck driving wrong way causes crash on Eastbound I-44, 2 injured

Update: 9:07 p.m. – SPD spokeswoman Cris Swaters says that both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries from the accident.

Update: 8:51 p.m. – Eastbound I-44 is back open, according to the SPD lieutenant.

The lieutenant noted that the crash happened due to a red truck heading west in the eastbound lane hitting a vehicle heading east. Officers heard the crash as they were at an unrelated incident.

Two people were transported to the hospital but the injuries and the identities of the victims are not known at this time.

Police are still investigating the accident.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The MoDOT traveler map is reporting that a vehicle crash on I-44 Eastbound in Springfield has closed all lanes.

OzarksTraffic says that the crash occurred around I-44 mile marker 80 before Glenstone Avenue at 7:20 p.m.
