Springfield man sentenced to 22 years for hijacking woman's car

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A man who hijacked a woman’s car outside of a Walgreens in 2022 has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Donny Finnegan was sentenced on Feb. 8 on charges of vehicle hijacking, first-degree robbery and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

Court records state Finnegan pleaded guilty to carjacking a 73-year-old woman at gunpoint in November 2023.

During the altercation, Finnegan started a conversation with the woman about her dog before pulling out a pistol.

Finnegan told the woman, “Because I like dogs, I’m going to let you live,” then got into her car and drove off.
