Local bars and breweries preparing for Super Bowl watch parties

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Springfield bar and restaurant owners are preparing for a rush of customers ahead of Super Bowl LVIII.

Many bars and restaurants were already planning to have Super Bowl watch parties. But when the Chiefs qualified for the big game they knew the interest locally would skyrocket.

“We’re looking forward to a big crowd Sunday,” said Kary Walker, one of the owners of Wire Road Brewing Company.

It’s getting down to the last few days of preparation ahead of the big game.

“Yeah, a lot of prep work,” said Harbell’s owner Jared Stevenson. “I haven’t slept much since last Sunday.”

Harbell’s in downtown Springfield is hoping to have a parking lot party if the weather cooperates.

“Exciting. A little stressful,” said Stevenson. “Really cool that the city would allow me to pull this off.”

Harbell’s will decide by noon on Friday if the parking lot party is canceled or not.

Wire Road says no matter the weather, they will have the inside and covered outside patio open to customers.
