Missouri State Lady Bears can’t carry momentum into loss vs. Murray State

Two days after coming away with their biggest win of the season, the Lady Bears couldn’t maintain the momentum.

Missouri State (15-6, 9-3) couldn’t keep pace with Murray State (15-6, 8-4) in a 95-89 loss on Sunday afternoon at Great Southern Bank Arena.

The loss places MSU in sole possession of third place in the Missouri Valley Conference with eight games remaining in the regular season. It is a game behind second-place Belmont and two behind first-place Drake.

Neither team led by more than five in the second half until Murray State went on a 16-0 run midway through the fourth quarter. Racers senior guard Bria Sanders-Woods scored 29 points in the game with eight coming in the game-defining stretch.

Kennedy Taylor finished the game with 21 points with eight rebounds for the Lady Bears. Kyrah Daniels scored 18.

Murray State, one of the best offensive teams in the nation, shot 55.6% and hit 11 shots from deep.
