Honor Flight gets grant from Webster Electric foundation

Webster Electric Co-op Foundation recently gave a $10,000 grant to Honor Flight of the Ozarks to offset some of the costs to take military veterans to Washington, D.C., to see their memorials at no charge.

Members of the Honor Flight of the Ozarks Board of Directors received the check Feb. 8 in Marshfield. They explained that each flight costs in excess of $150,000 and this grant will help defray those expenditures. The grant was funded by Webster Electric’s Round Up program, which allows co-op members to round up their total bill to the nearest dollar to contribute to the grant funds.

The first Honor Flight of 2024 is May 29. There are three flights scheduled for this year.

Any veteran who lives in southwest Missouri or northwest Arkansas who received an honorable discharge from the military is eligible to go on an Honor Flight at no cost. The veteran must have served during World War II, Korea, the Vietnam era or the Gulf War. They are not required to have served overseas.
