Springfield loses third straight to Travelers

SPRINGFIELD–Max Rajcic had a long day in a short span, as the Springfield Cardinals suffered their third consecutive loss to the Arkansas Travelers on Saturday.

Rajcic (2-2) threw 92 pitches in just three innings of work, and surrendered four of the Travelers 10 runs in the loss.

He allowed a 2-run double in the top of the 2nd, with two outs, to fall behind 3-0 to the Travelers. Then, he gave up a solo homer in the top of the 4th before being pulled from the game.

The Cardinals offense eventually got going, but it was too late.

RJ Yeager drove in the baby birds first run of the contest in the bottom of the 5th with an rbi single to center. Noah Medlinger and Matt Lloyd combined to drive in three more runs for Springfield in the 8th, which shrunk the deficit to 7-4.

But the Cards bullpen allowed Arkansas to scratch out another three runs in the top of the 9th to lose 10-4.
