NWS asks you send storm info you experienced

JOPLIN METRO AREA (KOAM) — The National Weather Service cannot be everywhere at once so they rely on the public to assist with storm damage information. The Springfield, Mo. is asking those along the state line to submit storm reports.

  • PAST : This helps them when rating the severity of the past storm.
  • FUTURE : This also helps them gauge future storm warnings released in your area.

“We’re looking for storm reports especially in the western Ozarks and along the Kansas and Missouri border! Please send us pictures of any flooding, hail, or wind damage you may have seen with as much detail as possible!”

WHAT DOES NWS NEED?

  • Hail Reports — Hail 1+ inches in diameter
  • Wind Reports — Any wind damage reports and/or measured wind speeds
  • Flood Reports — Any flooded roadways and/or measured rainfall

HOW TO SEND IT TO NWS

Please include a picture, approximate time of occurrence, and a location.
